Knowing

I am the ground
I am the root
I am the trunk
I am the branch

I am the twig
and the leaf
at the farthest end
of the twig

I am so far
from the ground
so far
from the root

Yet as the tiny leaf
distinct from other leaves
and twig and branch
fragile and alone
I am connected
at all times
to the root
and something here knows that
undeniably, anavoidably, always
